Meet Me

Personal Details

My name is Ollie – founder and owner of BUKo. My fitness journey started in 2014 when I had no clue what I was doing trying out every machine the gym had to offer. Fortunately since then I have learnt a bit more about health and fitness – enough to be able to help other people towards their health and fitness goals. 


This education in part is through my own training journey which has become a huge passion and part of my life. This has led me to every fitness web, instagram, facebook page known to man on my mission to optimise my training to meet my goals. As I am sure many other people have experienced, these sources of information come with varying levels of reliability and as a surprise to nobody I have made a lot of mistakes along the way….A LOT. The next step in my education therefore was finding a more reliable source of information, this led me to my degree. The University of Bath was my chosen location where I got my First Class Honours in Sport and Exercise Science. Alongside this I also completed my Level 3 Personal Training course.


This journey through both formal and informal education made three things very apparent to me - firstly the gym environment isn’t welcoming to everyone, secondly there is a huge overemphasis on aesthetics and thirdly young people are dominating the fitness space. These three topics became the backbone of what I want BUKo to be all about. My emphasis on over 50’s was born from seeing a group of people with arguably the most to gain from resistance training being, whether intentional or not, ignored and made to feel unwelcome or uncomfortable in the fitness space. Additionally, this was a group of people who had predominantly left the ego aspect of exercise behind and had the goals and aspirations i was all about - feeling strong, feeling healthy and being able to do what you want to do without limitation. 


One thing I always try to preach is balance – so while I love training it isn’t the only place I like to spend my time (though my family members might disagree!). I am a big sports fan. Chelsea FC are my one true love and I try to get to the stadium to watch games as often as possible. I also enjoy watching F1 and cricket where possible. If I have some spare time, hopping on the playstation with some friends is a great pastime for me and then I enjoy the typical entertainment the majority of us love; TV, film, music etc. 


So those are the basics when it comes to me. The most important information really is that I have the knowledge and aspirations to help as many people towards their health and fitness goals as I can. Whatever training option you pick you will be working 1-to-1 with me to get the best results possible.

BUKo was started show you don't have to accept a physical decline past 50 - you can actually be the healthiest and strongest you've ever been! Our private studio is the ideal environment to learn the resistance training fundamentals that will keep you feeling healthier for longer.
